We are on the eve of the 5G era, which is set to revolutionize the world. 5G technology will enable flexible, reliable, and secure wireless networks to connect people with all applications, services, and things, thus leading the human race into the era of "Everything on Mobile".
Chipset manufacturing companies for Smartphones such as MediaTek, Snapdragon, and Huawei (Kirin) have been highly involved in the introduction of the complete 5G Smartphones at the end of 2018 or early 2019.
Recently, Huawei introduces world's first 5G mobile chipset Kirin 980 which is equipped with Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities. Kirin 980 is 7nm (nanometre) mobile chipset means it is smallest mobile phone processor till now. It delivers 20 percent improved system-on-a-chip (SoC) performances and 40 percent more efficient.
Kirin 980 comes with Mali-G76 offers 46 percent greater graphics processing power at 178 percent improved power efficiency and running at higher clock speed over the previous generation means quick switching between running apps.
The CPU in Kirin 980 is configured with two high-performance Cortex-A76 cores, two high-efficiency Cortex-A76 cores; and two extreme efficiency Cortex-A55 cores.
Huawei has integrated the Mali-G76 GPU (graphics processing unit) into the Kirin 980 to deliver improved gaming experiences and utilizes AI to intelligently identify gaming workloads and adjust resource allocation for optimal gaming performance.
New pipeline technology in Kirin 980 allowing the camera module to shoot videos with 33 percent shorter delay. The first Smartphone to be powered by the Kirin 980 chipset will be Huawei's Mate 20 series.
Huawei already has launched Mate 20 smartphones in August that running on Kirin-980 processor. Huawei announced that he will introduce the first 5G smartphone in Huawei's Mate 20 series in coming months.
