How to choose the best inverter for home use?

For backup of Power Cut, every house has at least one alternative. To solve out the Power cut (also known as a power outage) we normally used the emergency power system at home such as Battery with Inverter, Diesel Electric Generator etc. At home, mostly Battery with Inverter used as Power backup alternative.

Inverter-It is a simple device that converts AC (alternating current) into DC (direct current) and vice versa. It also converts high voltage (220-230 volt AC) to low voltage (12 or 24 volt DC) and vice versa.

Working of an inverter-During availability of mains (supply from the grid) inverter continuously bypass the mains to load and converts AC to DC to charge the battery. While Failure of mains inverter takes Power from the battery in the form of DC and convert it into AC to run a load. From mains mode to inverter mode inverter takes few seconds, during this load automatically OFF then ON (but in UPS power supply uninterruptedly).

Why pure sine wave (Sinusoidal) Inverter?

Supply from the Current grid is AC and it is a pure sine wave. All of our electronic equipment is made to run on AC because that's what we get in our main power supply. So, for best result, the output from Inverter should be a pure sine wave. Sine wave makes Inverter more Efficient and Noiseless.

Efficiency- Efficiency is one of the most important factors for the best result of electrical Appliances. The presence of DC spikes in converted AC should be the minimum. These spikes are known as harmonics. Harmonics wave in pure sine wave Inverter is very low and responsible for the High efficiency and long Battery life. That's why the modern inverters come with high efficiency, up to 98% and more than 25% more efficient than Modified Sine Wave Inverter.

Noiseless-Sine Wave Inverters are produced very less noise. It is negligible as compared to the Modified Sine Wave Inverters. Why not square wave Inverter?

If you are powered electrical appliances with square-wave inverters and may also notice that your equipment gets heated up. Square Wave suddenly goes the maximum and stay then suddenly goes the minimum and stay. This is the reason of equipment gets heated up and start dying, produces noise and consumes high power.

The capacity of an Inverter- Capacity of an Inverter is measured in VA or KVA (volt-ampere or kilovolt ampere). It is equivalent to watt or kilowatts. A load of electrical appliances in measured in watt. For batter result inverter's capacity should be greater than at least 30% of the load.

Note-Inverters are not 100% efficient and thus running the same appliances on inverter would cost you about 25% more because the Inverters consumes some energy to drive its electronics components, a fan for cooling, battery consumes some additional power during charging and discharging. All this energy is wasted goes up to 25% during full load.

Conclusion-Sine wave inverter is Noiseless, long life for battery as well as electrical/electronic equipments and more efficient as compared to Modified Sine Wave Inverter.
